When did my babies decide they have to start growing up?
Seriously. Stay babies guys. Well, I guess it is too late. Even my baby baby is a full blown toddler now.
Anyway, this year Natalia started cubbies, and I accidently started a tradition with that. I wanted her to have something special to take as snack. She is getting old enough now that she is well aware if she is getting a banana and everyone else is getting “fruit snacks” which, you know, aren’t fruit. She likes fruit and everything, but she wants to have something extra special too.
I sent cookies with her the first few times, and now she sees special cookies “that don’t hurt her tummy” as part of the Awana fun. It is a little thing, one that I am glad to let her experience. So I do it. But, buying allergy friendly cookies each week just wasn’t going to happen. I wanted something that was special but still had some redeeming value nutritionally.
So, I headed into the kitchen and began experimenting with cookies that fit her new diet requirements (meaning no honey and coconut two ingredients I usually use in cookies).
